Those who have personally traveled to Nicaragua and been involved in this life-changing experience can best describe what it means. Consider the words of some of our volunteers, and then allow God to speak to you about the needs and opportunities just a few hours away. |

"This week has been a life changing time for me. There are really only two words that sum it up; indescribably awesome." |

"I think a big thing for me was rekindling the fire that was set 2 years ago. I really needed the fellowship with strong Christians, I had not had it since I got back from Ole Miss. Everybody here has been there for me in some way. That renewal of the fire gives me the hope to be stronger in my faith at home and to be able to make more changes." |

"This is my first big mission trip, I've been on, out of the country. God opened my eyes a lot this week and made me realize how grateful I should be for what I have. I've also learned that God's plan for my life is so much bigger and better than I imagined. Even if I don't agree with what God wants for me, I understand it's what's best, and I can only trust and follow Him. This trip was something I'll never forget. I wish there was more we could do for all the people, but I believe we shared the best thing we have.....Jesus!"

"Nicaragua is amazing! I have learned a lot down here. God is working in wonderful ways. I will be a lot more thankful for my things and three meals a day. These people are the most poor people I have ever seen. I pray for them everyday now. I hope you will join in on that with me. Please pray for these people and give as God tells you to."

"My trip to Nicaragua with Because We Care Ministries was amazing. We went out to villages every day with food, medical care, building homes, and just interacting with the people there. It’s certainly is an experience to truly see how other people live and how much help they really need. Children without shoes or food, no power, or even homes. Most importantly just like everyone else in the world, they need Jesus Christ. At every village we shared the love of Christ with them, we saw people come to know Christ and that is what it’s really all about. You know originally I went there to tell people about Jesus and help them. I didn’t expect to learn so much about myself and who I want to be through Jesus. This trip gives you the opportunity to grow in your relationship with Jesus, so you can come home and share it in your own communities. To step outside of your box and see that you can do ALL things through Jesus Christ. Nicaragua is a part of my heart now. I have been there on two trips and know that many more will come. I thank God for the opportunity for my hands and feet to be used for his Glory."

"I did not know what to expect as I left the United States for Nicaragua. I had a few months to build up pre-conceived ideas about how we would serve and the impact it would have on both me and the local people. During my time there, I discovered the universal need for the hope of Jesus Christ above anything else. I witnessed first-hand the language and cultural barriers break down as friendships were made in the church, school, on the streets, and on athletic fields. I learned that true leadership and a pure witness is serving one another. I was challenged to take the mind of a missionary back into my own hometown. With all of the typical distractions of the United States gone, and one focus in mind, I learned how to live a life surrendered to the Lord's will and, in that, found true fulfillment. My time with Because We Care Ministries in Nicaragua was, and continues to be a blessing."
