way.  Thanks for all the prayers…Pray for the bags and also remember to pray for the services tomorrow in Managua, Leon and Somotillo.  IHL, Donald & Pammie

May 5th Update

Good morning and blessings….Looks like its going to be another beautiful day on the mission field.  Its always amazing to set on the patio early in the morning, listen to the sounds of Nicaragua and reflect on all that was accomplished yesterday.  Over the past 10 years Pam and I have made hundreds of friends that sometimes  get disconnected.  Yesterday was one of those days that God allowed us to reconnect and we praise Him for that.  Great day of ministry in Jinochauo, Esperanza and Mata de Cana.  Last night we had a youth rally at Prince Of Peace Baptist Church with close to 100 in attendance.  Can’t remember when I have laughed so hard as we engaged them through games and then great time of Praise and Worship.  I often wonder how somethings are received, one young man ask, “when can we do it again”, I guess it went well.  Pray for us today as we travel into the mountains for a day of ministry.  In His Service, Donald and Pammie

May 3rd Update

Blessings from Casa De Shelly….The sun comes up and the sun goes down, day one on the mission field.  The morning began by going to Pascuala to visit the family that just moved into their new home and visit with another family that will be getting a new home next week.  The new house in the picture is the house that was started 3 weeks ago by the students from FBC Roanoke, Va.  After lunch we travel with Dr. Briones nurse to Santa Cruz to do medical, feeding and worship.  We did introduce the kids to the water balloon launcher.  I do believe they would have played all day if we would have stayed.  On the way off the mountain we stopped to visit with a family that had just moved to the area.  A couple of things that they shared with us, (1) they were hungry because they had no food, (2). No one had every presented the gospel to them.  After a few minutes Oscar shared the gospel and ask if they wanted to pray with him to receive Christ.  The father, mother and 15 year old daughter prayed the sinners pray, received Christ into their life and began their walk with Jesus.  It seems tonight that everybody wanted the experience to be their God moment for the day.  Continue to pray for the work in the clinic and that we will be faithful in following God’s will.  IHS, Donald and Pammie

April 30th Update

Good morning and blessings to all…….Tomorrow morning we leave out bright and early for Nicaragua.  It is amazing that we are as excited about this trip (somewhere close to 120 trips) as we were about our very first trip to Nicaragua some 10 years ago.  I can honestly say that there is NO place more exciting than in the center of God’s will for your life.  We do covet your prayers as we will be; starting house #14(thanks to some dear friends), pouring the concrete floor in the clinic, evangelism, medical, feeding and engaging in several different villages.  Plan to spend one day searching out NEW Villages and I’m sure there are a few that we haven’t found.  Please pray for travel mercies, protection and that God’s will be accomplished through us.  IHL, Donald and Pammie

April 24th Update

Blessings all…..One word has been stuck in my mind for the past several weeks and its there for a reason.  That word is “CHANGE”, I understand the word but what is hard is to “embrace” what change is all about.  I can honestly say, “The older I get the harder it is”.  I’m not sure that in my 33 years of ministry that I have seen as much change in the way we worship and serve as I’ve seen in the past year.  I can look at several different areas such as church planting, corporate worship, youth ministry and even our work in Nicaragua.  Not one single one of these areas when  I first heard change or the way we are going to do something was I truly able to “embrace”.  I even told my pastor once, “are you crazy”.  Now the reason I’m saying all of this is to encourage you to embrace and not reject.  I have seen great success in these areas that I had a hard time embracing.  In my heart and soul I’m now reaching out to change with one desire and that is to grow the kingdom and bring glory to GOD. I can hardly believe that on May the 4th that I will be leading the youth at Prince of Peace Baptist Church.  Bottom line, if I make myself available to be used of God then that is in every area that HE leads, change or no change.
With all that said we covet your prayers as we return to Nicaragua next Sat. to continue to serve where God is leading.  We will be working with Ronaldo the youth pastor, starting house #14 and pouring the floor in the clinic.  I do hope to spend time in Managua making final preparations for the Pastors Conference.  We still need more help ($$$$) for purchasing bus tickets and food for the pastors.  IHS, Donald and Pammie

One last prayer request:  Short Oscar called last night to request prayer for his wife, ” Veronica”.  She is pregnant with their 1st child and they discovered yesterday that she has some form of cancer.  Please lift them up….

April 7th Update

SPEECHLESS….I mean SPEECHLESS…I’m so thankful today that Holy God allowed me to be apart of the most amazing day everrrrrr.  Around 9AM we met with 220 high school students from Prince of Peace Baptist School for a time of Praise and worship and then service.  During that time more than 100 students prayed to receive Christ and began their new life in Christ.  After the praise and worship we walked the streets of Somotillo picking up trash and serving the people.  We ask the students to fill their pockets with candy and pass it to the folks they meet on the street.  The Nica students put up signs telling the locals to “not throw their trash down”.  After lunch we met with more than 200 people for the baseball clinic.  Once again several people prayed to receive Christ.  Thank you Lord Jesus….

April 6th Update

Blessings from Casa De Shelly…..I have no idea how to start this e-mail except to say that God is amazing.  After the most amazing day of serving God to got to be apart of seeing 4 FBC Roanoke pray to receive Christ.  I can say that revival broke out at Casa De Shelly and it is so exciting to see God show off.  The day started with the radio and then to Pascuala to serve our GOD and the people of Nicaragua.  Part of the students and leaders picked up trash and cleaned the village and the others help Angel get started on the next new house.  Last night was another exciting adventure as we spent a couple hours with the youth from Prince of Peace in Praise and Worship.  Today we are going to work with the church as we pick up the trash on the streets of Somotillo.

April 5th Update

Hola from Sunny Somotillo!  What a blessed Easter we had today.  Our day began with a sermon at the hotel – then off for the four hour, school bus ride, to Somotillo!   After lunch we went to Village of  Pascuala.  We were able to see the Housing Project in the works.  All I can say, (like Donald says)  is “When  God shows up HE shows off” – and boy has he shown off in this village!  It is amazing to see how far this village has come – from black plastic and cardboard houses to cement block, leak proof homes.  The families are grateful and are sure to know that these are blessings from our Heavenly Father.  We were able to share ice-cream with the village, share the “Good News”, and rice and beans.

This is not my first time on this adventure in Nicaragua.  However, there are several in this group who it is a first for.  It is refreshing to see the excitement in their eyes.  My hope is that they will carry AND SHARE this excitement with them for years to come.

One of my friends shared a prayer with me before leaving for this trip.  She prayed that our Heavenly Father would use my hands like the vine of a squash… one that travels and covers lots of ground.  I share this same prayer with our group… May we all be like a vine – spreading the good news and Jesus’ love to many.
